Thailand Bird Fair 2009

Mr. Surachai Kanasa, the Governor of Samut Prakan, presided over the opening ceremony of the Thailand Bird Fair 2009 at Bang Pu Seaside Resort in Samut Prakan. Over the weekend of 21st-22nd November 2009, a number of different activities have been arranged including bird watching, exhibitions, discussion forums and fun and games for all the family.
Bang Pu Seaside Resort is only a short drive from Bangkok and is well-known among bird-lovers for its diversity of shore and waterbird species. The theme of the Thailand Bird Fair this year is “Save Birds, Save the Earth”. The idea is to promote awareness that bird conservation is not just all about birds. Conservation efforts not only benefit other species but also humans as well.
As well as exhibitions and shops selling bird-watching equipment, there are also free guided bird walks around the nature reserve. Bang Pu Seaside Resort is normally a favourite location at the weekend for families who come to feed the thousands of seagulls on the pier. The migratory birds are usually in Thailand between November and March. They have already arrived. There is a restaurant at the end of the pier if you want to eat a meal and watch the sun go down over the horizon.
