Abhisit Election Campaigning in Samut Prakan

On Sunday 19th June 2011, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party, held an election campaign in Samut Prakan Prakan. During his journey around the province, UDD members held up placards criticising his ruling coalition government for its performance and also protested the 91 deaths during street protests last year. No violence was reported as policemen lined the streets and provided security for Mr Abhisit and his entourage. Mr Abhisit later spoke for about 20 minutes at two markets in the province. He explained his party’s policy and ways to solve rising commodity prices. The prime minister also urged voters to cast votes for his party’s candidates so that his party could form a government after the election and continue working on projects which are still pending.
