Seagull Monument in Paknam

A new monument is being built in Samut Prakan City in front of the Provincial Police Station. It is being erected on the traffic island opposite the Provincial Court House. The monument, with two white flying seagulls, replaces the water fountain that was here before. The water fountain was hardly ever turned on and often leaked. The “seagull monument”, which presumably represents the fact that the city is beside the sea, cost 935,000 baht to build. Work started on the monument in early October 2009 and was due to be finished on 6th December 2009. The workers at the site said it should be completed soon. They are presently beautifying the area with flowers and plants.
