Making Merit for New Year 2010

Thousands of local people from Paknam joined Mr. Surachai Kanasa, the Governor of Samut Prakan Province, and other dignitiries to give alms to 99 monks from local temples early on the morning of 1st January 2010. Prakhonchai Road, in front of the City Pillar, was closed to traffic for the traditional Thai ceremony where people made merit in order to gain good fortune for the new year. The Governor said that he was happy that H.M. The King was feeling better as he is an inspiration to all Thai people. The Governor went on to give a blessing of good luck and prosperity to all the local people in Samut Prakan. He also wished for a peaceful nation and improvement in the economy in the new year.
